Biography
Dr. Monica J. Posey
Academic Vice President
Cincinnati State Technical and Community College
Dr. Monica Posey holds a BS from Cornell University and an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. She completed all the Ph.D.-level coursework in Quantitative Analysis, has taught statistics, and earned a doctorate in Educational Foundations at the University of Cincinnati. Her dissertation was titled African-American High School Students in Mathematics: A Sociological View. In 2003, she participated in the Harvard University Institute for Educational Management, an executive leadership program.
Dr. Posey gained corporate experience working for AT&T Company in marketing research, project management, and technical training in New Jersey and Cincinnati. She also has been employed as Assistant Director of Career Development & Placement at University of Cincinnati. In 1992, she started a career at Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, serving as an Assistant Dean, the Director of Institutional Research & Planning, and currently Academic Vice President. As Academic Vice President she provides leadership for all academic divisions, Business, Engineering Technologies, Health & Public Safety, Humanities, Information Technologies, and Sciences. Other responsibilities are academic support services, library services, cooperative education, honors, and faculty development. Her professional activities include Cooperative Education Advisory Board - College of Mount St. Joseph, Board of Trustees - Minorities in Mathematics, Science & Engineering, and Advisory Committee - Woodward Career Technical High School. In 2005 she became chair of the Ohio Learning Network (OLN). Her professional awards and recognition include the Martin Luther King, Jr. Convene for the Dream Award and Leading Women 2005.
Dr. Posey’s best friend and mentor is her husband, Rev. Dr. Michael J. Posey, pastor of St. Paul AME Zion Church in Covington. Their church work includes an educational ministry and the Michael J. & Monica J. Posey Endowed Scholarship at the College of Mount St. Joseph. Dr. Monica Posey is Director of Christian Education for the Columbus-Cincinnati District and was elected a Lay Delegate to the 2004 AME Zion General Conference. Other interests include martial arts. In 2005 she was promoted to the rank of 1st Degree Black Belt in Tang Soo
Do Karate, demonstrating skill in self-defense, physical
stamina, and the power to break a 2-inch concrete brick.
