BCW To Host 5th National Diversity Forum
Can We Talk?™

Black Career Women, Inc. Forum Attracts National Speakers and Holds Reception at new Underground Railroad Freedom Center

CINCINNATI – (February 1, 2004) – Black Career Women, Inc. (BCW), a 27 year old Cincinnati-based workforce and training diversity organization, today announced its fifth Can We Talk?™

National Diversity Forum for women, taking place September 16-17, 2004 in Cincinnati at the Hyatt Regency. Keynote speakers are Graciela Eleta, Vice President & General Manager, Multicultural Business Development, P&G and Attorney Angela Oh, National Speaker/Consultant on Race and member of former President Clinton's national Committee On Race, from Redondo Beach, California.

The two-day forum, is entitled “A Time To Talk, A Time To Listen, A Time To Act: Every Woman Counts,” and will focus on race as a persistent and defining issue for black women and other women of color in the work place –often sabotaging diversity best efforts. BCW has confirmed Dr. Janet Helms, Professor & Director, The Race Culture Institute, Boston College for the panel, "How Race Shapes Our Identity & Organizational Cultures". The second panel, "Impact of Race & Gender On Women At The Top", will feature guest panelists Susan Arnold, President, Global Personal Beauty Care and Global Feminine Care, Procter & Gamble; Linda Spradley Dunn, President & CEO, Idamar Enterprises, Newark, New Jersey; Cynthia Booth, President & CEO, Cobco/McDonalds, Cincinnati and Dr. Jane Smith, CEO, Business & Professional Women, USA, Washington, D.C.

The more than 400 women expected to attend this year’s forum will explore the tough realities of today’s workplace issues: “Racial Myths & Realities in Today’s Workforce,” and “How Racial Identities Shape Workplace Advancement”. The forum will conclude its first day with a reception at Cincinnati’s new Underground Railroad Freedom Center. National Diversity Champions will facilitate the difficult dialogue around race and racism, frequently shunned in “feel good” diversity programs.
