Stereotypes persist in spite of workplace diversity training

Discussion Questions

Q. The article mentions one workplace stereotype concerning women, specifically “women won’t relocate for advancement”. Can you describe other workplace stereotypes for women? 

Q. Can you describe situations when you encountered any of these stereotypes? 

Q. The article describes how we are primed to look at each other in terms of similarities and differences – called confirmation bias. Can you describe stereotypes that seem to apply to all women and others that seem to apply women of a specific race or ethnic background?

Q. What suggestions or approaches to you have for successfully dealing with stereotypes – either stereotypes applied to you or stereotypes you might have against others? In other words – how do we get past the stereotypes?
