Black Career Women Launches New Website (8/1/01)
Cincinnati, OH. Black Career Women (BCW) announces the launching
of its new website, effective August 1, 2001. A Cincinnati-based, non-profit,
professional development organization, BCW has been a major advocacy group for
black women in the workforce, in Cincinnati and across the United States, for
nearly 25 years.
BCW's first website was created in 1997, in conjunction with its 20th
anniversary ground-breaking diversity forum, Can We Talk?™.
Our first site, hosted by CTD Technologies, was created through the volunteer
energies of self-taught supporters and friends and was ahead of its time among
local volunteer organizations in 1997, but became truly outdated over the last
few years, says Ann Keeling, BCW Senior Vice President & Treasurer.
Thanks to a generous grant from the Greater Cincinnati Foundation's Women's
Fund, BCW's newly re-designed, more interactive website will serve not only BCW
members, but also the larger community. "The site's new visual decor and
smoother navigation will efficiently lead visitors to its exciting new
features" according to Ms Keeling, "including an on-line career
strategies' chat room, on-line workshops, career advising, free email, an
employer fee-based job listing service free to BCW members and supporters and
numerous opportunities for career-concerned women to network, join BCW and
become a part of its expanding national network.
"The new website is now our central communication source, connecting
diverse aspiring and achieving women in all fields, from entry level to seasoned
professionals offering a broad range of career supports that are now available
on the internet, says Linda Bates Parker, BCW President & Founder. In so
doing, we help our women to overcome the digital divide and the many obstacles
still blocking their career progress. Through our expanded presence on-line,
says Parker, BCW will link our women to other career focused websites and other
women professionals, locally, nationally and globally. BCW's new site will also
keep them informed on the changing nature of the workforce, while expanding
their networks, alerting them to professional development opportunities, and
facilitating career transitioning or advancement"
The new BCW website enhancements were created by Systematic Software, of
Cincinnati. The community is encourage to log on and give BCW feedback on the
site at www.bcw.org.
